lupa

lupa traces narratives through forested routes and water bodies of the city. It initially began with an urge to take a DNA test to identify the missing ancestry in ila’s maternal lineage. The undertaking was to suggest that notion of embodiment as not tied to ancestral lineages alone.

The work speculates how all living things are connected to the first living ancestor through the epic of Sureq Galigo, gene expression and familial traumas.

Delving into the domination as well as fragmentation of body and land, lupa ruminates other forms of kinship and connection that transcend ancestry.
